Old Spanish Trail/Old Highway 91

Distance:         66.0 miles

Time:                 1hr 19 min

The Old Spanish Trail was a trade route that connected Santa Fe, New Mexico with Los Angeles, California.  The trail was used heavily by traders using pack trains from 1830 to 1850.  Start by driving west on Sunset Boulevard through Santa Clara, Utah.  Once over the mountains and you see a Joshua Tree forest, drive until “Bulldog Pass Road” on the mountain side.  Drive on to the road where you can park your vehicle right next to a living Joshua Tree.  A side trip can be made to Mesquite, Nevada when you get to I-15 where there are three casinos.
